Art Appreciation

..........................................Smaller Than Life (please click on the photo)

I spent the Thanksgiving holiday in New York, taking only one break from "family" activities (most of which revolved around food...) to visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Tripods and flash exposures were not allowed, so the shot was hand-held using available light. The child is unknown, but I couldn't resist snapping this charming expression of art appreciation. The man, turning his head to view a large painting hanging higher on the wall, stepped into the picture just as I clicked the shutter.

Since returning home, my back has "gone out" and left me searching for some position that affords pain relief, so I will be taking a short - I hope - break from the blog until comfortable sitting is again possible.

I hope everyone had a good holiday week filled with many things to be appreciated.

I think the guy in the picture takes it from cute to interesting - there's more of a story that could be made out of it.

Cool photo, Wiz. The guy moving into it makes it perfect.

Sorry about your back. Hope you're up and enjoying things again!

I agree that the man brings interest into the picture, but the little girl's face is priceless..and timeless...

Peeking in - So glad you stopped by, and thanks for the well wishes. Back is painful - degenerating vertebrae and arthritis (okay, I'm not so young, I guess) - going to physical therapy tomorrow morning.

I absolutely agree that the man adds to the photo. At the moment I clicked the shutter and realized he had entered the scene, I muttered because I thought he'd probably ruined it, but NO! The little girl was adorable, and she was enthralled by the "little" people (yes, her size) and by the fact that the one behind her was holding a cat. Very cute indeed.

Thursday Next, we did go to see the Rembrandt exhibit. Very worthwhile. Of course it features SOME Rembrandt's and many of his students and contemporaries. Beautiful paintings. We then roamed through some Italian and French paintings and finally to some early photographs, but by then my back was screaming.

What wonderful things Man is capable of when attempting to create beauty and good things.

Lovely photo!
Sorry to read of your back problems. It really gets you where you 'live' if you have a back pain.

Wizend....thanks for stopping by my place....and I'm so sorry about your back situation being serious as opposed to annoying. I'm keeping you in my thoughts....in a big way. You've become one of my favorite people.

I hope youre feeling better now.

Those two statues behind the kid are somewhat popular antiques. Must be French no? I hope you get to find them somewhere out there and get to live out the scene! P.S. I also think you make one tech savvy grandma. :-)
More antique decors here.
