Remembering My Mother
There she is: the redhead in white in the middle of the fun. Behind her, in the white cap, is my father. This was a newspaper photo from the 1930s when she was Rochester, NY, city speed-skating champ and he was the city's men's tennis champion.
And here is a poem written by Shaman:
A wish
May we all find our
way to our mothers
today, or some day.
May we find
the mothers
we miss,
the mothers we wish we had,
and the grandmothers of our
mothers,
where the love waits
unconditionally.
And may we be wise enough
to say thank you for the gifts
they were able to give.

It's got to be very shallow me to feel that I'm in love with your mother, just based on that photo.
But that photo. Oh, that photo.
hope you had a wonderful mother's day, wizard. this is a lovely tribute to your mother and really to your father as well.
Ah, look how much fun your parents and their pals were having. (And not a beer-bong in sight!)
Thanks for sharing!
Belated Happy Mother's Day, Wiz!
Thanks for sharing us your mom's photo. My mom didn't have a camera growing up so all the photos that I have of her was when she was already married to my dad. I loved looking at it from time to time if only to tease her of the clothes she used to wear! Talk about bell-bottom pants and Twiggy hair-style :P
