An Evening's Photographs

In town, the photo op was man-made and peopled: four ballerinas were enjoying some fresh air on the fire escape of an upstairs ballet studio.

A few minutes later and a few miles away, I encountered a subject of an entirely different sort:

And by nightfall, the moon and a planet were sharing secrets in a darkening sky:

Good night!

I used to love going for walks at nightjust so I could see beautiful scenes, such as the one you captured.

I pronounce each and every one to be frame-worthy!

I love the contrasts! Three very different photos at three very different times of the day seem worlds apart

Thanks for so many kind words. I'm surprised that the 3rd photo struck a chord with several of you (although I don't know why I should be because the sight of moon and planet so "close" together in the late evening sky certainly sent me running for my camera). That photo is technically not so good. It was hand-held, so there's a slight bit of blur that I can see in the planet. It doesn't show up too well in this down-sized blog copy, though. I still have a lot to learn - in this case a cable or remote shutter and a tripod would have been the right way to get the shot.

Jocelyn - LOL at imagining the ballet girls dancing across the other two pictures! Too funny!

By the way, "Pas de Fire Escape" was sneaked from my car window as I drove slowly out of the parking lot. I knew if they saw me the jig would be up!

I realized what I find so fabulous about your photography. You're able to take 3 such dissimilar subjects, and in your pictures they each tell a story. Some photographer's seem to focus on one type of photo, and don't seem to be able to tell any stories but that one type. You go from young ballarinas relaxing together, to a the secrets held by a decaying old farm, to a celestial tet-a-tet, and they all speak.
